Uni Choices

Yesterday, I got my final Uni offer...

I now have until 4th May to choose a firm choice for where I want to go, and an insurance choice for if I dont meet the criteria for the firm choice,

It's all a bit daunting really, as this is the choices that are gonna influence the next 3 years at least of my life, and further down the line, when getting a job! mad

But hopefully all will be good, and I can make my choices.

University Offers

Just a brief update really as to what I have going on in terms of 3d at the moment...

I've been applying to universities over the past few months for various courses in 3d and animation, and I finally have all but one offer back from them. And by the looks of things, im relatively confident. They all require around C's and D's from me, except my first choice which is a bit higher... But all the same, achieveable with the right effort.

I took my portfolio of work along with me for some of the uni interviewsl and they seemed pretty pleased with some of the work I had in there, althought, the consistent advice i recieved was to start drawing, and learn to sketch out ideas and concepts first before taking the leap into the actual 3d scene and models. So I think maybe Life In 3d may get a new album of sketch and concept work that I will scan into the computer. cool

A Little Story

Last night as I had my toothbrush in hand, I grabbed the toothpaste which is next to the hot tap, which is on the left, and the cold tap is on the right, and the soap is in the middle, I had in my left hand the tube of toothpaste, and in my right, my toothbrush while I rested my hand on the cold tap ready to rinse the brush before use. When something I didnt realise until I started to brush my teeth happened...

While resting on the cold tap I had not noticed my toothbrush happened to be in contact with the soap which I had just used to wash my face so was still wet, and therefore I had soap on my toothbrush, not nice...

But, as you may well have already concluded, I did not notice, and upon applying toothpaste to the brush, I began to brush away, until I thought, that tastes a bit funny.

Thats when I noticed the brush marks in the soap. :/

Today my throat is a bit sore from it. :P

UPDATE: Maya is coming....

Hey reader's.
Long time no blog, (or something like that ).

After visiting a prospective university the other weekend and discovering the prominence of Maya there, I'm going to be starting working with that, which means the work on the site may not be as good as I learn the program

But on the plus side, I'm preparing a portfolio and so more work should be appearing on the site soon from there. All good things.

Looking forward to creating some great 3d!

New Project - Toony Animation

I am moving onto a new project, this project is a short animation of a cartoon style dogfight between the flying saucers and the earth jets.

I've already modeled the jet, the saucer, the set (part of it), and some missiles as i did not want to commit myself to the project and then find it too difficult to make!

You can view the current progress in the Current Project page, which has now been changed from the Lego project, and also in the Image and Video galleries.

Site Updates and Progress

First of all, let's talk about the Lego project that is taking up most of my 3d time at the moment (which is limited as it is :D)

The Lego project is going along nicely, with the bar/pub pretty much finished, except choosing colours and the need for various small ambient objects (glasses, etc...).

Secondly, you may have noticed the new Web Store, Video and Image Galleries. The new galleries are much better as you can, view, comment on, and find images easier due to categories.
The Web Store is also a great addition, as now, you can also buy some of the work you see on the site for your own use in animations etc...

There is a whole lot more to say, but only limited time. So why not explore the site some more and see for yourself what's here!

Improved Image Gallery

Hey people.

The site has been updated with a new image gallery, viewers of the gallery can now comment on the image, and also the images are larger than in the previous image 'gliders'.

I've been working lately on rendering refraction, an early attempt is in the new gallery, why not go comment on it?

Here is the image as well.

Back On Track

Hey, sorry, I've not been updating the site as often as I would really have liked to. Life has been pretty hectic and i guess the 3d has had to take a back seat for a while, but - fingers crossed - I can get back to creating and updating, I've just stared working with crowd in Max 8, so maybe a short animation will soon be up.

Also I have decided to add a work in progress page, and possibly feature other peoples work on the site if they would like, but I would need to know if there was an interest in that idea before it could start up.

So that's all in short, feel free to comment and make contact with the site.

This week Life in 3d was launched!

As you will know from the homepage, Life in 3d is a site for everyone who has an interest in 3d, gaming, graphics, animation.... and much more too!

For the moment some pages and ideas are still being created and editted, so feel free to leave feedback and tell me what you think.
